ARMED FORCES ENTERTAINMENT

In 1967, a wing in Headquarters office was created under the name "Armed Forces Entertainment Wing" for entertainment of Armed Forces in forward areas. Nine composite programme troupes, each consisting of a Manager and twenty three artists with a complement of production staff dealing with all the troupes were created. One such troupe is located at Chennai. The troupes give performances in coordination and liason with Ministry of Defence. These parties will be required to give light songs, gazals, qawalis, dances, sketches, humourous skits etc. to entertain the Army Personnel.

The objectives of this scheme are as follows:-

  1. to entertain the Jawans in forward areas;
  2. to utilise the troupes in propagating Government policies in other areas also, when not required by the Defence Department.
